Patrick & Cynthia’s Excellent Adventures in Video Production!
Video Velocity (Patrick & Cynthia Kennedy) began production in 1979, in Northern California. Until 1987, we were the official videographer for the National Reined Cow Horse Association, and the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association. During those eight years, we also documented The Spanish Riding School of Vienna's performance at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, produced Linda Tellington-Jones' first video, "Teaching the Touch," and Joe Heim & Greg Welch's "Comprehensive Cutting." In 1985 we covered the National Cutting Horse Assoc. Futurity, and were the official videographer for the world's richest cutting, "The Masters," from 1984-1986.
In 1986, we were chosen to document the final auction of Harrah's Automobile Collection. This was the biggest auction of personal property in history, and included the sale of the Bugatti Royale Berline de Voyage for $6.5 million dollars, along with many other collectible automobiles. This opportunity came from our work with Harrah's and the annual cutting futurity they sponsored. We also worked for many years with the Tropicana Hotel Casino in Las Vegas and their cutting, which had the largest entry of any in the world. In 1987, we moved to northern Nevada where we retired from the world of documenting horse shows, to concentrate on educational video productions. Since that time, we've worked with Al Dunning, Bob Loomis, Dr. Robert M. Miller, Carole Fletcher, and other experts in the field of horses. We produced a tourism documentary about our home town, "Virginia City and the Comstock Lode, Yesterday & Today," which was shown on PBS for Nevada's 125th anniversary of statehood. We've continued to be involved with collectible automobiles, creating DVD programs for the National Automobile Museum and the Behring (now Blackhawk) Museum. But, horses are our first love, and they will always be first on our list of subjects. Our newest production is "Lameness - Its Causes & Prevention," with Dr. Robert M. Miller.
The wild horses of the Virginia Range are seen in many of our productions. The herd on this page are standing not far from our back door! We're very lucky to share our home with these horses.
When not involved in video production, we enjoy riding our own horses, and competing in dog agility with our Australian Shepherds. Besides videography, Patrick is a widely published photographer, and Cynthia is an award-winning writer and creator of fine art.
